What kind of Computer Keyboard is this?

September 6th, 2009 -

Asus not usually makes computer keyboards, it usually delivers such a surging sea versions of the netbook Eee PC, including computers thataren’t netbooks, it is difficult to track them all. So I do not blame myself for not somehow disappear in a CES demoed back in January: the computer keyboard Eee, a computer packages within a minute the future keyboard. (Specswise, is actually not a laptop screen.)

The Eee keyboard is a touch screen on the right keys and exit HDMI, and DigiTimes communication that comes from “in October” for $ 400 – $ 500. Here is a video demonstration UMPC Portal, shot at CeBIT in Germany:

I am not so sure about this touch screen, which seems strange nonsense, period, and may be useless for southpaws like myself. But an Eee PC hooked to a TV as a kind of giant has remote capabilities. One of the reasons I do not have TV in my living room is that I have never seen one I would sit in my entertainment center. But with the computer, there’s nothing to get anywhere, but to hug you.

And C, I’m not ashamed to admit that I find the Eee keyboard is partly because the first computer I use is also a computer-in-a-keyboard. (No, this is not a touch screen to the right of the keyboard-this is a great as a TRS-80 logo.)

Definition of Computer Keyboard – PC

What is a Computer keyboard?

Computer keyboard – A group of keys for entering the terminal or computer. This includes the standard typewriter keys, specialized keys and some features described below. See QWERTY keyboard, Dvorak keyboard, Azerty keyboard and virtual keyboard.

Computer keyboard – Enter (Return) Key
In applications of text, ending a paragraph or a short line. In data applications, it signals the end of the entry for this field or line.

Computer keyboard – Cursor Keys
Four arrow keys move the cursor on the screen. They moves the cursor(pointer) on screen. Up, down, left and right arrow, home, end, pageUp and pageDown keys are all included in cursor keys set. Some had previous keyboard cursor keys, which in the case, control or ALT key was used with a letter.

Computer keyboard – Control Alt, Command and Option keys
Used as a single key, usually combined to use with other keys. These keys are held down while another key is pressed to command the computer in different ways.

Computer keyboard – Escape Key
Usually used to go out or cancel the current operating session, such as exit from a menu. Used also to clear an area or a repeat function, such as the review screen.

Computer keyboard – Digital Lock
Locks a number of partners / cursor keypad numeric mode only.

Computer keyboard – Initial and End keys
Usually used to move the cursor to the left side or to the extreme right of the current line. Often used in connection with Shift, Control and ALT keys, for example, control-end or control-home combination, usually moves the cursor to the beginning or to the end of a file.

Computer keyboard – Page Up / Page Down Keys
It is used to move the cursor up and down on a page, a screen or a frame. Often used in combination with Shift, Control and Alt.

Computer keyboard – Function Keys
Used to call a menu or perform a function, they are placed in a pile of left or top row keyboard (F1, F2, etc..) They are often used to combine with control and Alt keys to enable a large number of options.

Computer keyboard – Backspace Key
Used to delete character to the left of the cursor (delete your text) and can be used to pass control to the delete key and ALT text segments.

Computer keyboard – Delete Key
It is used to delete a character from the current cursor location. Used in combination with the shift, control and ALT key to remove any segment of text as a word, a sentence or a paragraph.

Computer keyboard – Insert Key
Usually a toggle switch to go back and forth between insert and overwrite mode. Also used to “stick” a segment of text or graphics in the document from the current cursor location.

Computer keyboard – Repeating Keys
Computer keys repeat when held down, it’s a phenomenon that computer users should get used to it first time. If you hold down a key that is used to control the computer, it will be placed in command several times.

Computer keyboard – Audible Feedback
Keyboards can cause a click or beep to be heard by the computer users when keys are pressed. This is done to confirm that the character was introduced. This should be adjustable to personal preference.

Not all keyboards have the opportunity

Keyboards feel different, and touch typists should spend several hours with any keyboard, especially on a laptop before buying it. Key establishment is extremely important. The most popular laptop keyboards can have awkward cursor, page up / down, home and end key establishment. It is not unusual designs ridiculous as the delete key and a cursor key. For slow typists, all this means little. For fast typists, it’s is critical.

In addition, most keyboards today use a membrane technology under the keys without the flexibility and feel of earlier keyboards that used individual key switches. Keyboards received from third parties still do, however, the use of light, and a fast touch typist, the difference is dramatic. See mechanical keyboard, keyboard and Avant Maltron stellar keyboard.

Computer keyboards’ history

July 30th, 2009 -

The modern concept of computer keyboard was from the typewriter. The typewriter (antetype of computer keyboard) was invented by Christopher Latham Sholes. Those ones we use today was patented in 1868. It soon become a mass market products since 1877.

Inventions that lead to computer keyboard

Some of the key technological developments created the transition to type on the keyboard.  Teletype, which was introduced in 1930, ending machine technology (used as input and printing device) with the telegraph. Elsewhere, punched card systems, combined with typewriters to create a new input mechanism that called “Smudge”. Smudge is the basis for the first calculating machines, and IBM sold more than one million these calculators in 1931.

Early computer keyboards were adapted from the first punched card and teletype technologies. In 1946, ENIAC computer used punch-card reader as input and output devices. In 1948 there were computers used BINAC controlled electro-mechanical typewriter as it’s inputing data directly to tape (the very early data storage device for the computer) and print the result. NEC further improved the technology to cause the marriage between a typewriter and a computer.

Video Display Terminals

In 1964, MIT, Bell Laboratories and General Electric created an automated system called Multics, it’s a timeshare, multi-user system. Multics stimulated development generated a new interface of video terminal. Video terminal technology combined cathode-ray tube used In televisions with electric typewriters. Computer users can now see that their texts, as typing text with the displays as highlighted texts make it easier to create, edit and delete inputs. Computers are easier to program and use then.

Computer keyboard send direct electronic input

Former keyboard was based on teletype machines or “smudge”. There were many electromechanical transmission for the transfer of data between the keyboard and computer. With VDT(Video Display Terminals) technology and keyboards, the keys on the keyboard can send electronic impulses directly to computer. By the late 70s and early 80s, all computers and electronic keyboards were using VDTs.
But the keys location on the keyboard still has its origins out from the first inventor of the typewriter, Christopher Latham Sholes, who also invented the QWERTY layout. However, the keyboard now has several extra function keys.
